Accidents involving large commercial trucks and motor vehicles are often among the most serious. Due to their impressive size and weight, injuries sustained by those involved in truck accidents are typically severe or fatal.
An Alabama teen was killed in a recent crash after the car in which she was riding was rear-ended by a semi truck. The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m., when a semi truck failed to avoid crashing into the back of a car driven by a 21-year-old man.
The semi crashed into the car, killing the 17-year-old young woman who was a passenger in the vehicle. The crash also resulted in both the 21-year-old driver of the car and a 37-year-old female passenger sustaining injuries. Both individuals were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their conditions are currently unknown.
The driver of the semi truck sustained minor injuries, but did not require hospitalization. Police have not filed any charges related to the accident.
While it’s unclear exactly what factors may have contributed to this tragic crash, it’s clear the truck driver was at fault and therefore negligent. It’s possible the truck driver was traveling at an excessive speed and failed to adjust his speed accordingly when coming up upon the car. It’s also possible that the truck driver was distracted while driving and failed to see the car until it was too late.
The family of the 17-year-old girl may chose to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent truck driver. A wrongful death claim can help a family recover compensation related to their tragic loss as well as financial burdens often associated with the sudden and tragic loss of a loved one.
