Two Alabama drivers were injured in a multi-vehicle accident when their two large trucks collided around 12:45 p.m. on July 1st. The driver of the dump truck ran into the back of the fertilizer spreader vehicle near the intersection of County Road 164. The collision from the truck accidents was so violent that it detached the wheels from the spreader causing the tank to spill a load of lime on the road. There were serious injuries on both sides; the dump truck driver was flown to the hospital and the fertilizer truck driver was taken by ambulance.
The Alabama Department of Transportation was on the scene repairing the road, and the EMA contained diesel fuel that the dump truck spilled. Officials say that the lime should be cleared from the road the next time it rains.
Truck accidents of this caliber can cause serious injuries that can range from mild to life threatening. Some semi-truck accidents can easily cause death due to the sheer size of the vehicles involved. Accidents can be caused from purely unintentional reasons, or can be derived from negligence on the part of the driver or the truck company.
The truck company who causes an accident may be found negligent due to an inattentive truck driver, defective auto parts, failure to follow federal trucking regulations, etc. After an accident of this magnitude, a victim may experience feelings of hopelessness and depression due to their life changing accident. They may not know where to turn. Thankfully, an attorney who has experience in truck accidents can be a great resource to a victim. An attorney may be able to seek compensation on their behalf and have the negligent party held responsible for their actions.
