It is fair to say that often when we hear about a crash involving a truck it is in the context of a semi inflicting damage upon a much smaller car. The reality however is that this is not always the way that truck accidents play out. Sometimes they involve another truck and sometimes they are the result of the actions taken by the driver of a car. Both appear to be true when it comes to a crash that occurred recently in Alabama.
The trucks involved in the crash were both 18-wheelers. According to police officers who responded to the scene the early morning collision was caused by a car that cut in front of one of the trucks. In an effort to try to avoid the car the driver of that truck swerved. While that action was successful in avoiding a collision with the car, it caused the truck to hit another one.
One of the truck drivers was seriously hurt in the incident. After being cut out of the truck he was transported via helicopter to a hospital. Though his leg was described as being badly injured he was conscious at the time that he was taken to the hospital. The other driver did not suffer any injuries in the crash.
It is not clear what happened with the car that allegedly caused the 18-wheelers to crash or whether any criminal charges will be filed. It is also possible that a civil lawsuit could be filed as a result of the injuries suffered in the collision. Whether this will happen remains to be seen.
