When you’re injured in an accident, the last thing you want to think about or should have to think about is how you’re going to pay for medical care or the time you’re missing at work. Fortunately, if you weren’t at fault, it’s likely you can seek compensation. truck accidents can leave you with serious injuries, and you need time to recover without any concerns.
These people in Alabama have seen just how bad a truck accident can really be. The news from the Opelika Police Department has said that the crash involved two 18-wheelers and two passenger vehicles at the very least, and it took place on the busy U.S. Highway 280. None of the injured have been named.
The crash took place early in the morning at around 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Grand National Parkway and Birmingham Highway (U.S. 280 West.) It allegedly took place when a truck was stopped and another failed to stop, crashing into the back of the first semi. There were, unfortunately, passenger vehicles nearby that also suffered from the impact when debris scattered across the roads.
The report states that the accident left the truck drivers, ages 60 and 53, in critical condition. They were flown to nearby hospitals for treatment. The people in the passenger vehicles suffered injuries and were taken to East Alabama Medical Center. They reportedly did not suffer serious injuries.
The police are still investigating this crash, and no citations have been issued yet. It’s possible that charges could be filed following the investigation, and that could leave one driver facing penalties beyond the injuries he suffered.
