Mobile police identify fatal accident victim who died on July 4th

A victim who died in a fatal accident in Mobile, Alabama on July 4 has been identified by police as a 24-year-old woman from another state. The young woman was traveling in Alabama during the holiday weekend when the car she was a passenger in got into an accident. The force of the collision caused her to be ejected from the vehicle.

The accident occurred during the late morning hours. Police responded to the scene at approximately 11:25 a.m. to find the remains of a pickup truck and a blue Toyota Corolla. Allegedly, the Toyota was in front of the pickup, stopped in traffic. The pickup truck failed to stop and slammed into the back of the Corolla. In addition to the young woman who died, a 14-year-old also suffered injuries in the accident.

At this time, police have not revealed whether they plan to press criminal charges against any of the drivers in the incident. However, they have stated that they do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident. Upon the completion of police investigations, authorities may have a clearer picture of how this accident occurred and who is to blame.

In cases where a motor vehicle passenger dies in a fatal accident, there could be a variety of facts that led to the incident. Police will evaluate accident scene evidence closely to determine the causal affects of the crash, while looking for clues that indicate whether any laws were broken leading up to the crash. If a driver was driving at a high rate of speed or text messaging on a cellphone, for example, police may determine that the driver was in violation of traffic laws. Such evidence can also be used by families of deceased victims during their pursuit of a wrongful death lawsuit for restitution in civil court.

I have the utmost respect for Rip Andrews and the lawyers at MRB Law. They took a case that others would have stayed clear of because the issue of state immunity was involved. Through determination and unwavering commitment they were able to a find resolution to an extremely difficult matter.

"They...brought justice to my family through a multi-million dollar verdict ."
These lawyers took a complicated issue, revealed the truth in a way 12 jurors unfamiliar with the topic could understand, and brought justice to my family through a multi-million dollar verdict. They were able to relate my “invisible” medical condition to the jury better than I can to my own friends. And because of that, the jury hugged me and cried with me when it was all over. That meant more to me than any amount of money.
