Drivers who choose to drink and drive often display erratic driving behaviors. Swerving and crossing over the center line, driving too slow or fast and veering off the road are all signs that a driver may be intoxicated. Alabama state police suspect alcohol was a factor in a recent fatal car accident in which a 33-year-old woman was killed.
The car accident occurred just before midnight on a weekday night as a 33-year-old woman was driving on a two-lane Alabama road. At this same time, a 25-year-old male driver and his 25-year-old female passenger were traveling in the opposite direction down the same stretch of road.
Police believe the 33-year-old driver lost control of her car and crossed over the highway’s center line. As a result, her vehicle collided head-on with the SUV driven by the 25-year-old man. Both of the 25-year-old occupants in the SUV sustained injuries that required medical attention. The 33-year-old driver believed to have caused the head-on collision, was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
While the fatal car accident is still under investigation, police believe the 33-year-old woman may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
This tragic accident serves as a solemn reminder to all Alabamans of the dangers of drinking and driving. Even after just a couple drinks, an individual’s ability to focus, concentrate and react is compromised. In this case, the two 25-year-olds who suffered injuries due to the negligent acts of another driver may choose to file a claim against the woman’s estate for compensation related to medical expenses and lost wages.
