If you or a loved one get into a car accident, you could be facing a long recovery time while you heal. Car accidents involving pedestrians often result in death because there is literally no protection against impact. In this report from Jan. 18, a U.S. Postal Service carrier was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Jasper, Alabama.
According to the news, the postal worker was crossing the street near the intersection of Alabama Avenue and Birmingham Avenue. He was crossing at around 11:30 a.m. According to the driver involved in the accident, he was looking back to see if there was any traffic coming from Alabama Avenue, and he didn’t see the man crossing in the intersection.
After the accident, the postal worker had to be transported to Walker Baptist Medical Center. Unfortunately, his injuries were severe. It was reported that he had to undergo surgery for a full hip replacement due to injuries. He will now have to go through rehabilitation. His coworker has said that the postal worker should make a full recovery as long as there are no complications.
In accidents like this one, an injury can mean months of rehabilitation and recovery time. A full replacement of a knee, hip or other body part takes time to get used to, and you have to learn to use it again. If you’ve been injured and have to go through similar serious surgeries, you may want to consider seeking compensation from the at-fault party. Claims may include those for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages and other related economic and non-economic damages.
