On November 4, Samsung issued a recall of nearly three million washing machines. The affected models are top-loading washers. Samsung received over 700 customer complaints about the machines, including reports of injuries.
You can check the list of recalled models to see if you have a faulty machine. The washers in the recall sold from March 2011 to November 2016. If you find your washer on the list, do not use it. Instead, you should contact Samsung immediately.
What is the risk?
These models of top-loading washers can experience problems with larger items such as heavy blankets. Some washers have exploded, causing the top of the machine to detach and send debris flying. Reported injuries include:
- Broken bones
- Injured joints
- Injuries from falls
- Impact injuries
Don’t take chances. Contact Samsung to have your washer replaced or repaired if it is one of the faulty models.
Manufacturers should be held accountable for dangerous products
When corporations fail to build safe products, consumers suffer. You can take action if you have been injured by a dangerous product, but you will need help. Individuals cannot stand up to corporations and their legal teams without experienced legal counsel to represent their interests.
In a defective product case, a lawyer will typically review your claim, examine the evidence, investigate the incident, work with product engineers and determine how much compensation you will need for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Your lawyer will also negotiate with the negligent manufacturer or take the case to trial, if necessary. If you have questions, speak with an attorney to learn more.
