On January 22, 2017, the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company announced a recall of certain brands of its beer. The beer in question was sold in 36 states, including Alabama as well as surrounding states such as Florida, Georgia and Louisiana.
The brewery says the problem affects 12-ounce bottles only. The glass in these bottles contains a flaw that may result in small pieces of glass falling into the beer. While no injuries have been reported so far, this is clearly a potential danger to consumers. If the glass breaks off the lip of the bottle, it could cut a person’s mouth or tongue. If someone swallows a piece of glass, there may be a risk for injury, depending on the size of the piece.
The eight brands of Sierra Nevada bottled beer included in the recall are:
- Hop Hunter IPA
- Otra Vez
- Pale Ale
- Tropical Torpedo
- Torpedo Extra IPA
- Beer Camp Golden IPA
- Sidecar Orange Pale Ale
- Nooner
What should you do if you are injured by a product?
Any injury caused by a consumer product can be problematic. Many people don’t know where to turn when this happens. Many mistakenly assume that they cannot take action against the manufacturer unless the product is part of a recall, but this is not true.
Individuals typically have a difficult time fighting large corporations after they are injured by a defective product. Corporations have teams of lawyers to defend the business against personal injury claims. In many cases, they will simply deny or undervalue the claim in the hopes that the injury victim will give up.
If you or a family member suffers an injury from a defective product, speak with a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney. You may have options you were unaware of.
